Default Brother Nouvelle 1500s skipping stitches

Hi, I am new here and this seems like an excellent place to ask questions of other quilters! I recently bought a Brother Nouvelle and am pleased with it except for one thing - as I am doing free motion quilting I am getting skipped stitches, particularly as I come to a seam. I've changed the needle to a 14, made sure I've threaded correctly, and these seem to have helped, but it's still happening. I am using Aurifil thread. Any suggestions?

Nhovland, are you using a walking foot? Or the darning foot? The walking foot might make it feed the layers better. I know those gloves work for some people too to help move the fabric. I really haven't done a bunch of this, so maybe I shouldn't be answering. Just some of the comments I've read. I'm sure someone else who knows better will be along. LOL Hugs, Jan L.

hi - my mom has a brother 1500 and it will not free motion - only straight stitch. we tried everything we could think of including changing the feed dogs and the darning foot. nope - just straight stitch which its does very well - but no free motion. sorry
