What seems to be the problem with it?

I agree... I don't see how she did it with FQ's either. But, my reason is because the strips from top to bottom are not pieced. Unless this quilt is 22 inches long, how did they do that?

I wouldn't even had done it that way with all those cuts. I would of just sewn the strips with half strips on the ends.

Those long strips are pieced (see first step).

Is the problem in the cutting? The directions rely on the FQ being at least 18 inches, and I suspect some are slightly less, especially if you have to square. So getting 6 3" strips from each of them might be a challenge.

Aside from that, I couldn't see another obvious problem.

I see what you mean. When I think about how I would cut it (see diagram above), it means using all of the 18". Fat quarters, though, often either shrink when washed or are cut slightly crooked to the grain, which means the useable measurement ends up being less than 18". Sorry I can't be of more help!

Here's the test.....I cut the strips per instruction, I had part of the fat quarter left. Here's fabric A & B. The center row is not pressed and the rows are not joined....I ran out of thread! I think this pattern is very doable with 8 fat quarters....

HOLD ON!!!!! After re-reading the instructions....I'm not sure why fabrics B-G is cut as : Two 3” x 21” strips, Two 3” x 9” strips, One 3” x 3” square. Is there a typo on this pattern......

If it were me....I would cut all fat quarters as Fabric A and assemble.....

Since when did GrammaBabs need a pattern?
