    Default Events for Beginners

Are there any retreats or classes that would be suitable for beginners? I have sewn small projects in the past, but never a quilt. It's also been awhile since I've done any sewing. Also, for events, are sewing machines on site or do we bring our own?

You either bring your own machine or rent one for a fee at the retreat center.

As far as events geared specifically for beginners, I don't think they are set up that way, but usually someone there is more than willing to help.

Welcome Megan! Do you live close to Missouri Star? If not, most local quilt shop have classes for beginners. Or watch Jenny's tutorials, she does a great job explaining things. Everyone here is always happy to help if you have questions.

Hi Megan... Most quilt shops....and Joann's offer classes for beginners.... Just call around. These classes usually ask you to bring your own machune, and will provide a list of everything you will need.

Jenny's videos are invaluable... Some are specifically for beginners.... Most are so eady, a beginner can easily do the project... More than one if us has learned to quilt by watching Jenny.... She's an excellent teacher. And, her tutorials are free. You can Aldo buy classes, from sites like Crafty...

    Lots of options!

Quilting, using precut so, is a very nice way to begin..... Not much cutting involved, and the patterns give you a complex looking quilt that was easy to put together.... I love it... The quilt shop I go yo... The Fabric Shavk carries lots and lots of precuts....in addition to thousands of bolts if great fabrics.

    Good luck!

uTube offers ths of quilting videos.... Free!
