    Default Jacobs ladder doesn't work

Started cutting out the Jacobs ladder pattern from the block magazine. There's no way the math is right. Step 1 says to cut 11 5" strips which is about all you get from the 1.75 yards for each color in the yardage requirements. Then you subcut into 5" squares. Yea that gets you 86 of each. But when you read further you need 86 each to make 172 hst and ANOTHER 86 to make 172 4 patches. Which means the yardage at the beginning is only HALF what you really need. Very frustrating!

I don't know offhand which issue that was in, but did you happen to check for pattern corrections before you started?

I think it's so unfortunate to be put in this position. When we purchase these magazines we're trusting that the information in them is accurate. And don't you dare jump down my throat on this complaint in defense of MSQC. I'm a loyal customer. I subscribe to the magazine, but there's no excuse for making mistakes like this. Time should be taken for someone to test the written pattern before publishing it. That's obviously not being done or these mistakes would be caught before it reaches the printer. I doubt we can blame the publisher. I would assume a mock-up is sent to MSQC for approval before publication. I, for one, am willing to pay a bit more for the publication if it's going to guarantee accuracy. It's one thing to have typos in text, but it's a whole other matter to make mistakes in written directions that can cause costly mistakes for the customer. If it keeps up people will stop purchasing the magazine. A mistake once in a while is not acceptable in my book so don't go there. Also, where are we directed to see the errors in the publications? Is it listed in the magazine? I'm out of the country and I don't have access to my magazines to know.

Wow! Thats all will say. Totally uncalled for attack.

The corrections are always available on the website and from Karen's user notes. Attacking her like that is totally uncalled for IMO.

Maybe it was a typo.....that sucks. I hope you can get more of the same fabric. As a general rule I do not like BOMs. However, I need to retry that technique so I can make sure I don't like them. If I have ever went off from a BOM I always bought extra fabric. Because my cutting would go whopper jawed or if I sewed something wrong I wouldn't have to rip it out.

I wasn't going to say anything until I clicked on Karen's link. If you click on each magazine there are quite a number of mistakes.

How would someone new know to look for corrections? Why would they even think they had to look for corrections?? They wouldn't know to look at someones user notes. Plus I think it is very hard to find the corrections. There should be a link that is very visible not one you have to search for.
