    Re: Giveaway Week 30 Aug 8th -14th

Let's see, the most common mistake I make is to be in a hurry and put wrong to right sides together. Hopefully I am getting better.

Congratulations to Nana2mandj! Sewing while tired and not being accurate on the seam allowance.

Not being accurate enough in cutting strips/pieces and sewing the proper seam. People get in a hurry (lack patience) and do a poor job of cutting and/ sewing then get discouraged when blocks don't turn out the right size.

My personal experience makes me say, not reading the pattern all the way thru or not returning to it during the process.

Having to rip-out/re-sew; whether because of sewing inaccurate seams, or accidentally sewing the wrong sides

My most common mistake is sewing when tired. Trouble every time.

The most common problem, I think, is not double checking your work. Whether you're cutting, piecing, sewing, or quilting always double check. It will save both time and money, I guarantee it. Trust me, I learned the hard way, (thankfully, I've never cut a fabric wrong 'phew', just had to spend a few hours ripping out stitches).

                    Congratulations to last week's winner!!!

My "GRRRRRRR" moments are when my 1/4 inch seam allowance goes astray. I think I should buy stock market shares for seam rippers. I did buy 'qtools sewing edge vinyl stops'. BUT sometimes my lead foot doesn't give me adequate time to realign my fabric.

A reusable, repositionable vinyl stop creates a guide in front of your pressure foot to aid in aligning your fabrics. It helps you make adjustments before the needle. The most common mistake is not sewing a true 1/4 inch seam, we think we are but many times as a newbie we are off. This needs to be learned and once mastered the ready of quilting is so much easier. Ask me how I know, lol.

I think the most common mistake is not reading thru all the instructions before getting started. I know that has caught me a few times.
