    Default NCW and Rivets???

I took the plunge, ordered hardware and templates (being cut today) from Emmaline's and noticed that some NCW's are being beautifully handcrafted and using rivets to hold the sides to the zipper pouch and divider piece.

My questions is can you get away with just 1 rivet/side fold or should you use two on each fold for better security??

Thanks in advance and chomping at the bit to get one done.

Oh and I only have a really sharp awl to make the holes for the rivets....will that work?

You can do just one. I have made one like that and it was not as easy as it sounds. I used 8mm rivets, but I need just a tad bit longer ones. After reading, a lot of people use 9mm or 10mm.

I need help in finding the site where you can order the main lock closure. I know someone posted where to order them from but I can't find that post.

I ordered mine from Emmaline, the company that sells the pattern. They have twist locks and thumb locks both.

Oh Dear Pat, I think I ordered the rivets toooo small.

I guess I will have to use them on the straps and go to Tandy for the right sized ones.

Thanks, now just onward and upward.

It's actually quite thick when you fold everything together there. Like I said, I used 8mm and they were barely long enough. My 6mm were way too short!
