Oh gosh Carrie, count me as another who is very impressed with the feather block. Itís beautiful!!
Yeah yeahÖI know the drillÖďBut itís sooo easy!ď Hu huh.
My camera also doesnít pick up certain colors well. If I felt like fooling with the big camera that I can set, I could get them right, but these days itís just too easy to whip out the phone camera and call it good. DonĎt have to think about exposures, apertures, white balance and all that other stuff.
And whatís this??? Your not gonna share the Harry huh? Next time you will get and EMPTY box of fudge ya rotten heifer.

Iíve heard of the ugly stick, but the stupid stick is a new one on me. Although one would think I should be well acquainted with this saying since IĎm always making mistakes when I sew. I mean itís automaticÖwhenever I get any of the sewing things out to sew (I use my table and have to set up/put away each time) I just grab the seam ripper right along with the thread because Iím going to need it no matter what.

You know Amy, you could look at it this wayÖ.Oh darn! *feigned exaggeration* my ruler broke! I guess I will just have to get a new, supreme, top of the line quilting ruler. Iím soooo disappointed! Iím sure Mr Nacho Quilt Police would approve. *giggle*
And your HITW is looking so nice!

Uh oh, crunch time Juliet. Nice cover and it sounds like you have lots of sewing to do.

No offense Mary, but glad to hear the rain is somewhere besides here! For the first time in a month, itís hasnít rained at all for a full 24 hours. Since Iíve already sprouted gills, I donít know what to do with myself!

Ok, time to catch up since I’m too worn out to do much outside today. I’ve been doing triple time this week with extra mowing and jam making, but I finally got some decent pics of the berry top.

Instead of launching into a long book here, I’m just going to post some pics to tell the story. First batch up…things that inspired this top-

It doesn't have a back yet, but the binding is going to be a berry purple and it will finish out roughly 86 x 86.
Because...you know....I didn't seem to learn my lesson about quilting a large quilt on a very small machine with my son's 80 by 85 quilt.

Sonic that's beautiful! the colors are just wonderful. Nothing like homemade Jam either! My sister keeps me stocked lol. What pattern is that or did you just make it up?
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

omagersh Leah it's amazing!! Love the pics of the farm and jam too!

Can't replace the ruler yet but it'll all end up ok. I don't really need it right now *grumble*. Just makes me finish the hand quilting instead of squirreling too much.
    Quilter since 2013.

    Thank you.
Kinda both. My original plan was the Mega Orchid by RKaufman pattern (linked below) however the "off" appearance of the white diamond in the middle of the quilt bugged me.
So while searching around for a small star I could enlarge and do something with, I found this pic- (third design down)
    MaryQuilts.com: Playing with Quilt designs

There was no pattern that I could ever find, so I started playing with it in different ways and sizes to work with the materials I had. The end result was my quilt. It was also my first foray into using primarily solids in a quilt that focused more on design and less on fabrics.
In retrospect there are a few more minor tweaks I could have made to the borders, but this quilt is much more soothing to me than the first pattern, even though this one took some figuring.

    The free Mega pattern-
Orchid Mega Free Pattern: Robert Kaufman Fabric Company
and there is a kit for this on Craftsy too.

It's rather washed out in the pics, but in person the colors are very rich but soothing. And the different greens are all of the herb family.
