Instructions for 60 Degree Triangle Table Runner??

Are instructions available for making those beautiful 60 degree triangle table runners that use striped fabric? (I know there are some gurus here!) I found this, Instructions, but I am not sure how you figure out how much fabric you would need. I am interested in this fabric: Link to Fabric, but don't have a clue how much would need to be ordered. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

PS: I am still working on my Thousand Pyramids quilt. WHY am I even considering doing something that requires more triangles?! I guess because those table runners fascinate me!

Somewhere in Show and Tell the member who has been making them all posted some instructions. I think that was at least two weeks ago, maybe three. Let me see if I can find it. She may have included amounts.

    Found it! http://forum.missouriquiltco.com/sho...r-pattern.html

Karen, Thank you! I appreciate the link so much!

I bookmarked it, but I was wondering--is it possible to "save" favorite forum threads within the forum?

I think you can subscribe to them to save them. I'm not 100% sure, I just use the search function a lot.

I will try subscribing and see what happens!

Edit / Follow-Up: I discovered that I had one folder with 678 subscribed threads in it! LOL It is apparently a default folder that gets added to automatically.

I also discovered that you can make and name your own additional folders, so I made one named 60 Degree Triangle Table Runner (or something like that) and filed the thread in it. This could be very useful--you could have folders with different (broader) names to organize things!

Cool! Now if I could just find that striped sunflower fabric (perfect for Kansas!). . .

I just bought two hunks of fabric to make these. Wouldn't the amount of fabric you need be determined by how many repeats of border fabric/ strips you have across the fabric? The two pieces that I bought each have 3 rows of pattern across, and you need 14 triangles to make the runner. I haven't had time to work with mine yet to see how much I really needed.

Are hunks of fabric different from gobs?

Yes, I think you are right. And I just remembered that I have several yards (perhaps hunks, but quite possibly gobs!) of striped Laurel Burch fabric in my stash!

I have made a couple of these. It is hard to say exactly how much you will need as you need to 1) decide how big to make your triangles (I have a 12 inch 60 degree ruler so I can go up to 12" each triangle although the last ones I made I used 8" because it seemed to fit the fabric repeat the best) and 2) you have to see how far apart the repeat is in your pattern. When I use the smaller size I easily got one out of a yard. But if I used the full 12" it might be really tight.

Well...I can tell you what happens when one doesn't have enough hunks...

(the fabric kind for the runners people)

Thank you both for posting. It's great to see that others are interested in this Triangle Frenzy! Sorry I'm 6 months late to the party. If you want to know finished sizes for different strips, let me know. I have a developed a large calculation table. My Triangle Frenzys are small enough to fit on my name tag or large enough to cover my King size bed. FUN!!! Bunnie Cleland
