Default Hello, my name is Amy (middle name Jo), another newbie.

    Hi,
I am officially a newbie to sewing and quilting and I am already hooked! I've always wanted to learn but time and not having a machine that worked properly held me back. Well that all changed when my 10 yr old daughter wanted to learn to sew and was trying hard to sew with a used $89 machine I had from my college days that was on its last legs. More often then not the tension or the bobbin would go all wonky or the feed dogs would stop working and her project would de-rail, but she never got frustrated. Fast forward to Christmas, a new machine and a trip to the fabric store and our new adventure to learn to sew quilts began. I guess its never too late to learn and it is a joy to be doing it along side my daughter. Perfection isn't our goal, ( though I do dream of creating something intricate some day) just having fun and enjoying that feeling of making something by hand is where it's at. I especially love seeing the spark and joy in my daughters eye as she sews and I look forward to our continuing quilting adventures!

Welcome from SW Ohio. Wish my DD was interested, but she only likes latch hooking.

Welcome To Missouri Star Quilt Company's Forum.....this is a great place to learn everything from learning to make receiving blankets, pillowcases, many, many tutorials for quilt patterns.....and other "how tos" for quilting. I have been a member since 2011, but really didn't start doing much until 2014 ( I think )

Here's a link so that you can watch many of the tutorials Jenny Doan and her family have made....
    https://www.youtube.com/user/MissouriQuiltCo

Each week on Friday ....( yes, I am up at 121 AM so that I can look at the new "tutorial" for the week .....( all except this week...I waited until around 5 AM to view the newest Tutorial !! ) Jenny and family makes a new tutorial......

I wish my daughter would have wanted to learn to sew, but her paternal grandma and I made everything my DD wore from the time she was a baby until she left home. I now sew for the grandkids, and my niece's children !!

    Again, Welcome !

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. We took a little trip to our LQS today and fed our new addiction. Love the M* tutorials and look forward to learning much more as we go along.

Hello from Ohio, and welcome to both you and your daughter. Sewing is a great hobby, and quilting even better. It's always heartwarming to me to hear of a young one whose world has become bigger through sewing. Good job, Mom!
