Default Has anyone made chenille and is it possible with a pieced top?

Has anyone made a chenille quilt? Is it possible to do with pieced blocks or are there too many seams? Do you see the pattern or does it disappear? I checked out some youtube tuts but most were basic how to do without showing the finished product.

    Thanks

I made a few, it is a lot of fun making them.
If you can use pieced blocks I am not sure, i think that does no good on the patters overall.

Try with a nice printed piece of coton and make pieced borders to go around it would be my advice.
    Have fun

Someone in our group makes chenille projects but I can't remember who. Surely she will jump in here to give her advice. I don't think pieced fabric would work due to the seams, but I'm no experienced in the technique.

I made this for my grandmother a very long time ago, and I was able to piece it. I didn't know anything about quilting back then. It really wasn't that difficult and it was on a very basic machine.

I attempted to make chenille...had the fancy cutter and everything!!! Started out with my strip about 12" wide (was trying to make a scarf!).....ended up about 4" wide and in the trash. Pat is not good at making chenille!

I have made a chenille throw from 5 (or even 6) layers of flannel. I can't recall how closely I cut the channels but it was a lot of cutting. The key to getting the proper ravel effect is that the cut must be made at a 45 degree angle. When you use blocks, you have too many seams AND you often don't know if the patchwork pieces are on the straight of grain. You could test it of course, but I wouldn't spend the time or energy.
