    How about a pink/blue/white stripe?

That was my first thought that the white would get dirty and show dirt. I live in Germany, I just can't go to a store and compare my quilt to fabric. We have one american fabric store, it's 40 minutes away on a different base, I'll try to get there this week and see if there's an alternative. The fabric on the economy here is $20 a meter (39 inches). I have a huge stash you'd think I'd have it.... Every time I need fabric it's either for a different project or just not right...grrr

I often do my bindings in the same fabric as the border so the eye is focused on the interior and quilted border.

I've heard never use black for binding because it picks up lint & is so hard to keep clean looking. I would think that white would show up dirt faster. Probably best to use a nice color picked from the body of the quilt or even a multicolor print.

I've never put on a white binding.
It gets all the wear, and will show all the stains.
I usually use a fabric I used in the quilt top.

I've used a white binding many times when it was the right color to use and it's fine. I've had no problems with showing dirt, no more than the rest of the quilt! Go for it!

There's rules? I always use what's available and have fun with it. I may make spontaneous unintentional changes to the plan (some people call them mistakes) but some pretty interesting things have come from those so . . .go with the white or go completely different. . .either way it will end up like it was meant to even if it's different than your plan.

Remember to ALWAYS smile, it will do one of 3 things
    1. Bring a smile to someone else's face
    2. Make them wonder what you are up to
    or ....
    3. Scare them
