    Default really frustrated need help

I am making the hour glass and four patch quilt from one of Jenny's tutorials and for some reason my hourglass blocks are 9" but the four patch are about 1/4off.......it was cut from a layer cake and should measure up the same ....I'm using my 1/4 inch presser foot and my seems are all right.....what could possibly be wrong?

I haven't made that yet but I saw the title of your thread and your name and thought I'd jump in and try to help. I'm off to look at the tuturorial and will be back as soon as I can. Hold on etstrogen.

If you made them all from layer cake squares, the 4-patch should be a little larger. At the end of the alter ego video, she mentions to square up all the blocks to the same size (the size of your smallest block).

It's the diagonal seam, it always takes a bit more fabric.

If my blocks don't measure up like I think they should....I square them up to the same size. good luck, I'm sure it will work out fine.

Estrogen, I bought a couple of different sized square-up rulers because I like to do so many different sizes. Find one that is slightly larger than the blocks you most often make and I would suggest to buy that one.

I am also in the process of making the Alter Ego quilt. I squared all mine up with an 8 1/2 inch square ruler which I found just the right size.
