Default Whats your menu for the 4th of July?

I'm bored with the same ole thing. LOL. We BBQ on the 4th and of course I make sides, we have some desserts.

Just wondering what everyone else is having, maybe I will be inspired. Come on ladies... Inspire me! I'm bored. LOL.

Right now, I am thinking we have some Pork for BBQ and some Nathan's hotdogs to grill.

Potato salad, or cole slaw and baked beans. (No one really likes baked beans but me and dh.)

    So... what else is there?

I like to make a pasta salad, not mayo based, but more vinegar and oiled based dressing (Italian salad dressing works well). I cook some shell or bowtie or rotini pasta and then finely chop all different colors of bell peppers, red onions, black olives, green onions, seeded and diced cucumbers. I even half some cherry or grape tomatoes and toss them in. It's colorful and tasty and stands up to being out of the fridge longer than a mayo based salad. It's great to make the day before too and allow the flavors to really soak in.

    Grease and cholesterol!

We'll be going to a local county fair and will eat there. Then we'll stay and watch the fireworks.

I make a salad similar to Karen's and use zesty Italian dressing on it....yummy!

Ooooh... I have all of that in my pantry too! Thanks Karen!

I should probably cook some corn on the cob too... even though I can't eat it.

Isn't the grease and cholesterol the only reason anyone goes to the fair?

We will be having steaks off the grill, with the regular baked potatoes, salad, veggies, etc for lunch. For dinner, we will be eating at our church's summer fair, so probably burgers and home-made fries with home made ice cream and pies galore. Then after some service work at the fair, a lovely explosion of huge fireworks to light up the skies! Our church sits on a hill and over looks many neighboring communities, so we can view all of their fireworks, too. Our pyro-technicians do the fireworks for the Royals baseball stadium, so we have a huge show complete with matching music. Throw in some gospel singers and some carnival games for the kiddos. Fun, fun, fun!

I make a similar pasta salad to Karen's and use the zesty italian dressing like Shirley. I do all kinds of veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, peppers, green onions, etc) but no olives. Use the food processor pulse option to make things kind of tiny - picky eaters get their veggies this way.

Broccoli slaw is another one that is popular.

For an appetizer we sometimes do the veggie pizza - use the same veggies from the pasta salad.

New to the menu this year is a dessert/snack item - popcorn with white chocolate drizzled over it and then red pop rocks candy and blue sprinkles - can also do the blue pop rocks. Also will do homemade ice cream. Yum!

DH is going to smoke a brisket which we will turn into bbq and then we will have brats, burgers and dogs.

We are pretty traditional, smoked pork loin and baby back ribs, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, chips, dips and then there will be oodles of desserts, coconut cake, homemade ice cream, strawberry shortcake for starters. who really knows what will be brought.

No, I go for the funnel cakes, oh wait, nevermind.
Since you're always on my mind can you straighten out the mess up there?
