    Another cute one would be the one Alan just did in the blog. The dresden coin. I just bought the templete with the dd deal just now.

    Are you talking about the quilt he's laying on? I like that one a lot and have the perfect layer cake for it and also have the Dresden template to make it! It's so nice looking and different.

    Yes, wasn't that such a cute blog post! I bought the lemon tree layer cake last year and it is so 'yellow' and black. I used it for a hopscotch playmat. I couldn't look at it anymore. lol But todays is really soft.

    I also vote for the large tumbler. Once you get used to sewing them together it goes real fast. I made one.

    One way to extend the layer cake is to find a good neutral to go with it. Maybe a solid like Kona "cream" would be good. You could alternate with every other tumbler being a "cream" block.

    The only reason I would not consider the half hexie is that there are some stripe fabrics and it would be hard to match it up. I think small busy prints work best with it.

    You could also get 4 of the 5" tumblers out of each square. If you like the look of the 5" tumbler better than the 10" one.
