That's a great quilt for a kid! And I have to say I'm a bit envious of your quilting skills!

What a terrific quilt! I have had that same jelly roll for a long time. I've picked it up, stared at it and put it back down because I wasn't sure what to do with it. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

He is going to LOVE it! I like the use of the colored blocks, adds something different to the quilt. (Very nice borders, too!)

I love the use of the random squares to break up the strips. Can you elaborate on your dragonfly stenciling and quilting? Did you stipple in between the dragonflies to create continuous lines?

I stippled the borders with FMQ, but for the main part of the quilt I used the stencil which had a stipple as part of the design. I bought the stencil at JoAnn's and I believe it's by Dritz. The stencil itself is a continuous line stencil so you complete about an 8 x 11 inch area each time you repeat it. The worst part is tracing the design on the quilt. After I sandwich and pin it (by the way, I used the "small table" method to sandwich and pin it) and have the center marked, I place the stencil on the quilt and trace it. I use the free motion feature on my Bernina and just follow the lines. When I first started quilting on my machine, I never, I mean never thought I would be able to do it, but that just made me more determined and each time I do it I get a little better at it. So if I can do it, anyone can do it.
    Hope this helps,
    JackieK
