Default NEVER underestimate your quilting skills!!!

I often read message where someone is mentioning their errors as they quilt, questioning their abilities, wondering if the accuracy of quilting is something they can live up to. I have to share that you would NEVER, NEVER, EVER question what your abilities are. Sometimes there are hidden talents in your work that just don't surface for the world to see. What if you never have a quilt winning a big blue ribbon in an international show, even a national show, a local competition, a state fair, or even being oohed and aahed over at your local quilt guild?

I have to share that today has been a difficult day for me . . . that is, until I went to pick up my mail. In the mail today was a gorgeous set of pot holders made specifically for me by someone who questions whether or not her work would be good enough. Let me assure you, one and all, her work is so very right on and it came at a time when I needed that extra little boost to my soul.

    Thank you, Debbie.

    Beautifully said!

And it fits for many (if not all) aspects of live, not just quilting!

I will admit... I am one of those who doubts my abilities. I'm still new (only two months "old") and only have one real quilt under my belt. I know that it'll take practice and patience to be able to live up to my own standards and expectations. I'm a little on the OCD side when it comes to my work, and as my mom always tells me, I'm "my own worst critic". Whether it be sewing/quilting, photography, knitting, scrapbooking, etc. I'm always really hard on myself. I just have to learn to embrace my mistakes and learn from them.

Wonderfully stated Sandy. One should never question whether or not what they make is good enough. There is always someone that is going to love what you do. We are our own worst critics, but we really are talented. We do after all, make quilts. Not everyone can say that.

That is so true, we all just need to do the best we can, and it is usually pretty good.
I am new hear but have been quilting close to 30 years and still can't get it right most of the time lol.
Really enjoy your post Sandy and sorry you are having a bad day.
Wish I could post pictures and give you all a goo laugh.

Sandy I have several Martelli mats and have problem with shadows on yellow side (guess I better turn over and try purple side)

    Thanks for listining

Isn't it amazing how that package showed up today! A day you needed a boost. I think we are a lucky group of people in that first we have all the people here on this forum to give us encouragement, but we have a hobby that we can fit our own skill set to. We learn by trying new things we see others do.

Sandy, thank you for being you! I'm sending a big cyber-hug to you.

    How friggin' crazy is that?
You just made someone feel SO special, and some of us (maybe not so sure of ourselves) feel great...
    Love, love, love!
    Great post, Miss Sandy!

On a second look, I'm holding back the tears....

I really need to get off the exclamation point.
It may give people the idea that I'm bright and cheerful all the time....
