    Default Throwback Thurdays.....

Got a late start this morning and don't have my old photo ready to post. Want to post one of the first quilt I made, it was the project for the week long Elderhostel quilt class I took in May 1999. Will post it later but wanted to start this thread in case others had photos they wanted to post.

It is 8 hours later but I'm back. First photo is of my First Quilt - it's the Many Trips around the World pattern that I learned at a week long quilting class. I was the only newbie quilter and learned the basics very well as well as what supplies I needed like a quarter inch foot and when you pin a quilt you need a whole lot of small safety pins, not a dozen of big ones.

2nd is one I finished this morning. Seams meet pretty good and it's square! Took me 15 years but I'm still learning.

    May, they both look great!

Just dug around and found one of my first projects - I have been doing this much longer than I thought - it is from 2007, not long after I got my combo embroidery/sewing machine - which is still my current machine. I blocked out the baby's middle and last name.

Beautiful quilts. My first quilt certainly did not look like that. Great job.

My first quilt was much larger than I should have made (queen) but I didn't know any better.

Coleen, Like you my first quilt was a bit of a stretch but I'm sure you learned a lot making your big quilt, pretty colors..

Noticed in the photos of the small quilt show that the white sashing isn't laying flat, After I wash it I'll stretch it flat and when dried add some quilting in the white sashing.

The yellow and white one I made when I was 17 (1977)...my mom actually quilted it. The second I made in 1984 for my friend in the picture as a baby quilt for her first baby. Click image for larger version.
