    Default Printed Quilt Label

I finally got around to trying the print a Label on your printer for a Quilt Label.......and it WORKED!

    Here's what I did:

    1) You need to be sure your printer is an Ink Jet Printer

    2) I cut 3 pieces of Freezer paper the same size as a standard printer paper 8 1/2 X11

    3) Then I lightly starched the Fabric that I was using for the label

    4) Iron your fabric to the wax side of the freezer paper ( backside of Fabric to Wax side of Freezer paper

    5) Then iron the 2 other sheets of freezer on top of the freezer paper that you ironed the fabric to

    6) You now have a very ridged piece of paper with fabric on one side

    7) You may want to do a test run to see which way. Your paper feeds into your printer so that you will know which side should be up to print on the fabric. My printer had me put the fabric in fabric side up.

    8) I made the Label using my Word program but I bet you could use Photoshop ect and could get quite fancy if you wished

    9) My label could have been A little darker but I have my printer set up to print in grayscale to help conserve the ink. But if I were to change this setting or select BOLD I am sure it would print darker.

    10) I then cut my label to the size I wanted leaving an additional 1/4 inch to fold over. I also ironed on the back of label a light weight fusible interfacing after printing the label.

    11) I then hand sewed the label to the Quilt

This was SO easy!Click image for larger version.

copy the address line and paste it to a new thread in your user notes. You can save all kinds of good information in your user notes. To find user notes, click on your name, then profile, the user notes are in that section.

I've done the same but don't use starch. I was afraid the ink would be absorbed by the starch and wash out when the quilt is laundered. Have you tried washing or rinsing your label?

Thank you for this.. I've done it before, but NOT with the 3 sheets of FP.. that is a great idea... much less chance of the paper getting stuck!!!

I have not washed the quilt as of yet! But the tutorial I used said that it does not wash out.
