Default HELP ! ! ! I knew it would happen sooner or later :-0

A neighbor who is a close friend brought me material today that she and her husband want made into a baby blanket for their first great-grandchild. I don't have any idea of what to do with what she brought me. I have taken pics. More info after the pics.

The material is a light flannel. It is a panel with the blocks made into the flannel. Any suggestions? HELP

The easiest thing would be to back it in flannel and quilt along the block lines in the panel and then any additional quilting that you want to do. This may be what they are expecting, since they picked a panel that is already bordered.

If you want to do something more special with it, cut the blocks apart and do some sashing between the blocks, maybe with some cornerstones.

Have fun with it whatever you decide to do.

Well, both my ideas are exactly what Lisa said!!! I think either would be fine. One would be super easy, and the other not so hard, but more time consuming. I'm sure they will like whatever you do!

How close is the closest design to the rick-rack line? If you find the smallest one and fussy cut all those and do what Lisa said with the sashing and corner stones. The only thing is that you will lose that outside border. But it could be used on the back somehow.

I'd cut it into squares, (after washing and drying first.) Then spray starch and press it stiff. (not like a brick) and then, I'd made blocks the same size as the letter blocks like four patches in the colors you have there or prints to match. Then sew the four patch blocks to the letter blocks and put them together in rows. I'd add a white inner border and then an outer border in a color like the red or the blue. Add a binding in either the red or the blue contrasting the border. Quilt all over with a random pattern.

Just my opinion, but I don't think I would cut it at all. You could border it in whatever seems the most pleasing colors that you can find.....or not......maybe ask them about some of the ideas you are collecting.
Good Luck and show us when you are finished please!

how big is the panel? if it isn't at least 50" i'd cut it apart and like someone else said add either 4 patch blocks or pinwheels. then add a border or 2.

I would put on borders to bring it up to the size you want and call it done.

I wouldn't cut it ... just add borders and quilt around the blocks.

I agree. Don't cut it. Back it and batting it and use a serpentine stitch or blanket stitch to quilt along the lines.
