I did an owl quilt a while back. http://forum.missouriquiltco.com/mem...715-owl-3.html I used a jelly roll for the quilt.

I just printed out shapes-oval for body, triangles for ears, circles for eyes and went from there. I needed to be simple as I haven't done a lot of applique. Looking back, maybe a pattern would have been easier but I was new and didn't even realize that there WERE patterns.

Another way is to do a search for owl images that are outlines (coloring book images) https://www.google.ca/search?q=owl+c...w=1375&bih=799

I made this quilt for a friend's grandchild. It was a pattern on the Moda Bake Shop (http://www.modabakeshop.com/2011/01/...aby-quilt.html) and I put the name component in it (letters from a computer font). The owl fabric came from Walmart...no Local Quilt Shops here....No precuts used, all of my pieces were cut from yardage. The yellow color is actually lime green....lots of lime in the owls. Lots of cute owl fabrics out there.

I LOVE this - and yours too Daisy! I don't think this looks boyish, myself. My DD loves these colors. This is just BEAUTIFUL. Did you do this Mchelem? WOW.
Not this exact one, but I did a similar one and did a pink one as well.
