    Need to let off steam!

Bit of a boring afternoon - Clive's out from 1.00pm till 10ish tonight and I'm stuck indoors on a beautiful sunny day. Too hot to walk to the shops and back (2 miles and very steep hills which ever route I choose) and nothing I want to watch on TV - what a waste! 'Spose I'd could do some sewing to pass the time but I've done a lot in the last few days and I'm not in the mood to strip and clean the machine - which it badly needs.

I may have a cuppa and a read in the garden when it cools down a little. Could have done with a nice swim or relax on the beach - maybe tomorrow when I look after the girls for the day.

He's off to cricket today and bowls tomorrow and Thursday - I'll be glad when the footie begins - at least that's only once a week! Just feel a bit trapped without transport (especially when the car is sitting in a city car park not being used)

Where is a good mass transit system when you need it??
I feel for you, early in our marriage we only had one car & I had 3 toddlers. Going to the grocery store for some forgotten item was a real drag.
May the road rise up to meet you...
May the wind be always at your back...
May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead...

Re: Need to let off steam!

Its a bit of a walk to the bus stop (and only 2 buses an hour) and my poor arthritic knees would object. Schools are out now and rush hour will begin soon so a bit late to go out to the shopping mall and get back at a sensible time. Buses one an hour after 6.30 and its nearly five already. (no free transport for seniors after 3.30 so a costly exercise too)

Boy, I'm whinging - must snap out of it ............ but I'm feeling very depressed and also angry and frustrated. Haven't been sleeping well recently and the prospect of having my gall bladder out at the end of the month is starting to get to me.

OK girls rant over for now.

Sorry your afternoon is not going so well. This thread might give you a smile.

By the way, I had a gall bladder op several years ago and recovered very quickly. And I felt much better afterwards - no more of the horrible pain and able to eat whatever I liked!

That's good news - I've spoken to 3 people recently who all had bad experiences and keep telling me to cancel surgery!

hi i can feel your pain being stuck in. i've never been able to drive (i have epilepsy) so unless there is someone who wants to drive me i am stuck here daily. as far as your surgery i also had that and had no trouble after so try not to worry.good luck.

So sorry Joan - can't imagine what that must be like - I sound very selfish. At least i bounce back quickly so tomorrow should be better.

                    Jane,
A comment about having your gall bladder out.....although you are losing sleep over the prospect of the surgery, once you have this surgery done, you will feel so, so much better believe me. Due to the fact that I have had a great deal of surgeries over the years, trust me, I too worried over each one, and I am so thrilled when they are over.
When I was having gall bladder attacks, I vowed not to prolong the surgery as my dear mom did, just because she was so afraid of the prospect of having surgery. While no one likes having surgery, it has to be done of course. I felt better almost immediately when my gall bladder was removed. I was supposed to stay in the hospital 4-5 days, and begged the Dr. to let me go home after the second day, and surprisingly he agreed.
Take care, and I am sure that after your recovery time you will be doing really well !

I had my gallbladder surgery about 4 years ago. They did the laser surgery with 4 small incisions. I was only in the hospital for a few hours. Doctor told me to take it easy for a few weeks. DH had to keep reminding me to take it easy.

Are you having the laser surgery?

The gallbladder is cut free using either laser or electrocautery - not sure which they'll do. Evidently its tucked under the liver and mine's a bit 'fatty' making it less maneuverable when doing keyhole. May mean they have to do full op .... hope not

I,had mine out less than a year ago. It was the best surgery ever. Morning surgery, home in the afternoon. Felt great in less than a week. Awesome.
