Great tutorial! The quilt is beautiful as well as the instructions! Thank you for sharing both!

Now I have to finish what I am working on so that I can start this. What a great gift!
My user name is FunkiQuilter, but you can call me Funki for short. (Pronounced Funky.) I inherited the name from my cousin because of my love for unusual things.

I can't see the pictures. I wonder why? It seems that the others who replied could. ?????

When we migrated to the new servers we lost some of our in-line thread photos.

I've found the pictures so I thought I would post them again. Here goes!

    • Choose 5 fabrics that tone from dark to light. I went for blue and white because of the room I was making it for but I'm sure it would look really good in black and white.

    • Cut 2" strips from each fabric.

    • Sew the strips together along the long edges with a quarter inch seam going from dark to light:

    • You should now have a stack of triangles with dark bases and a stack with light bases:

    • Sew the dark triangles into strips as long as you want and then do the same with the light triangles:

    • Sew the strips together alternating dark and light and then trim the top and bottom a quarter inch wider than the points:

    • Add any borders you want and that's it!

Thanks for reposting that. This really looks like a fun quilt to do. Love the fabrics you chose!

I just found this thread and I'm wondering, when you make the triangles you seem to make a flattened top point by not putting the top of the triangle even with the fabric but rather a smidge above the top. Is there a reason for that?
