Default Quilts in the Pumpkin Patch

OK, so here I just finished the Witches Hat and Christmas Tree wallhangings (projects left over from last year) when I realized I didn't have anything to hang up in November. Tried to do a Dresden turkey ala Jenny, but not having the rulers he turned out wonky (I did turn him into a pillow, but he just wasn't up to my wallhanging standards!)

Tried a paper piecing project of a scarecrow, but I need to practice more paper piecing first! Way too advanced for my beginning skills. So I was browsing the Internet and ran into the Sunshine in the Attic blog with the quilts in the pumpkin patch wallhanging. Google it if the link does not show up. Just wanted to be sure everyone knew where the inspiration came from.

Sunshine in the Attic: Quilts in the Pumpkin Patch-- Day One!

I had some charm packs I had bought several years ago with fall colors and wanted to use those also. I finally came up with the concept of putting the pumpkin patch in the middle and let the twister panels represent falling leaves. I also did the grass with the twister tool. This was my second Free Motion Quilting project...the borders are awfully wonky pumpkins. Don't think I would do them again. Good practice anyway.

The little quilts were so much fun to make! The pumpkins were snowballed, so the whole thing was pretty easy.

Very cute - and a great way to combine methods - most twister patterns I've seen are the main focus, so I like seeing the different options.
