I'm sure it will turn out fine. I washed a Halloween quilt yesterday for the first time (loads of bright saturated colors) and all turned out well....just a little purple was picked up by the color catchers and I think that was from the backing. Let us know how your quilt turned out!

Re: Please, Please, Please Let this Be the End

I am so excited. I have notified the quilting group that there will be a surprise guest tonight. Some of them have decided to bring food and drinks. I have arranged for my 19 year old son to be hidden in the back room with the quilt. After everyone gets there and in their chairs, I will have him walk in with the quilt held up high and wide so it can make a grand entrance. The girls have been calling and emailing me all day trying to figure out who the guest could possibly be, and I just keep telling them they have to wait. I never said the guest was a speaker. I did tell them to bring any projects they were working on or needed help with. One lady asked me if we were going to be working on the quilt tonight and I said "If you want to." After all I need someone to help get the rest of the white specks off from where the batting came up through the stitching in the sashing.

Thursday night the quilt will be turned over the ladies group in our church who will raffle it as part of our 120th birthday celebration. They are hoping to get $1,200 from selling tickets 6 for $5.00 or $1 each. I hope they can sell that many tickets. We have all decided that if one of us wins it we are going to give it to the lady whose idea it was to start the group.

Woweeeeee.... that was like reading a mini novel. You kept me curious.... "will it turn out okay?" "will the dryer blow up?" Seriously a very pretty quilt and I'm glad all is well. Good luck with the raffle too.

Re: Please, Please, Please Let this Be the End

Just returned. It was so wonderful. My boss called this afternoon and I told her what I was going to do, so she showed up tonight with a video camera and told the girls she wanted to video the guest. I shared a little inspirational item with them and then shut them all in the room while I went to get the guest. My son crept up so they would not see him through all the door windows and then held up the quilt, I opened the door and the quilt walked in. One lady burst into tears. There was some shocked silence by others. Then they all started talking at once and looking at the quilt. They were shocked how it looked with the binding on and washed. The one lady who said she never wanted to see it again said she now wants to win it because it is so pretty.

The surprise guest was a huge hit and we sat and chatted about the process and other things tonight. Had some salad and brownies and came home.

Next week we become a sit and sew group.
