I totally forgot about these! Yours is really pretty! One of my dd's and I were making a lot of bags for awhile and came across these. We decided on the magnetic snaps. I'm going to try this one now.

I have made a few of these myself. I put masking tape over the ends of the tape measure after cutting. This way it slides in place and doesn't catch on the batting. My husband had a few tape measures that were broken. So he donated them to me. So if you know any carpenters or guys who do there own fixing up on things. Maybe they have a few tape measures they would love to get rid of. Especially if they are broken.

To keep the left over tape from going back inside, before you cut your pieces off, just pull some extra out and put a clothespin on it to hold it so it won't reel back inside.

My friend bought my tapes at Walmart for $3. to $5. a piece. If you go to Lowes or Home Depot, don't buy the ones hanging up on eye level - too expensive. Look down on the bottom shelves, much cheaper.

I would be afraid it would slip out of the clothespin. If you live by Harbor Freight, they are even cheaper to buy there!

I know, there are some really cheap clothespins out there. I wouldn't use the ones you get at a dollar store or even other places. Heck, those don't even hold my clothes up outside. Somehow I have some good ones and I even put the tape measure with the clothespin on it in a plastic bag and it hasn't come off yet. I'm glad you said that because I didn't even think of having to be careful with what kind of clothespins to use. haha.

I love the little bags and think it's a cute project; however, this is one of those days when I say, "Self, you know yourself pretty well. There's going to a lot of blood!" I think I'll stick to zippers.

I wish this self would have said that, because, yes....it did involved blood!!! Blisters too! Those tapes get hot near the iron and without thinking, yes, yes I did grab it.
