Default My first quilt. Finished! Is it a pinwheel?

This is my first quilt. I made it without a pattern, without a class or instruction, without even watching one of Jenny's tutorials. (I've since watched lots of her great videos. Not sure why I decided to make my first quilt without instruction or help!)

I made the flimsy and backing and a friend quilted it for me. I also bound it.

I've made six quilts since I started quilting in April and I'm not sure why, but this is one I didn't start and finish all the way through. It feels good to finally get the first one finished.

Here's a blog post about my adventure:

By the skin of my teeth. ? Debt of Gratitude

By the way, does anyone know the name of the pattern? I saw a photo of a similar quilt and was determined to make one like it. I searched and searched through Google and could never find a name or a pattern. So I made up my own. It looks like "pinwheel" to me, but the pinwheel patterns I found all used triangles. I would love to know what this is called.

It's similar to the "Whirlygig" block.

Very nice. Congrats on a completed project. Also, a warm welcome to the MSQC forum.

This is awesome! Thank you! The tutorial notes she didn't trim. Since I had never quilted before, or made a pattern before, my improvised method requiring trimming every block. No fun -- but I managed to get there!

This is the inspiration photo I found:

    My Cotton Creations: Finished Quilts

I emailed the blogger and asked for a pattern name, but she never responded. So I just made up my own!

That's a great quilt. It looks like a twister, but looking close, you can see where its actually strips. Great job!
