They are kind of like hash browns, but formed into little shapes like miniature logs that are about 1.5" long and 1" across. You usually bake them in the oven...find them in the freezer section by the french fries.

Here's what Google has to say about them, and it's pretty accurate: Tater Tots are a commercial form of hash browns, a side dish made from deep-fried, grated potatoes.[1] They are widely recognized by their crispness, cylindrical shape and small size. They come frozen and are stored with the french fries.

You all are wrong! Tater tots are FOOD OF THE GODS!!!

(shredded/grated potatoes, reformed as said above, partially baked, frozen. Can be baked or fried to finish off.)

BTW, if going gluten free means you get to eat more tater tots, it might be worth looking into. Just sayin' ...

Maybe that is why I always pass on them. Forgot the chili and cheese which everyone knows makes everything better. Well, maybe not everything but you get my drift...

I've never had them like this but it sounds so good. I will have to try this.

Stay away from the sweet potato variety.
They didn't crisp up in the oven very well.
And even more disturbing, after eating them for supper, I had odd dreams involving Leonard Nemoy as Spock, and Ernie, of Sesame Street fame, as summer camp counselors.

Other than that, they are great! My sister makes a great casserole with them.
