Default 1/4" Foot with metal seam guide

I had trouble in doing a 1/4" seam so I bought a 1/4" foot with a metal seam guide, it worked wonders until I noticed the edges of the material kept fraying. Any ideas how to stop this. I get over one problem and then I get another.

I just bought one of these also. I've not had any problem with fraying though. Make sure you are butting the edge of the fabric up to the blade. Don't push your fabric into it. Also, make sure that the edge of the fabric isn't riding just under that blade.

I have not had the fraying problem either......no clue as to why this is happening.

What kind of fabric are you using? It may be a fabric that frays easily

Check the edges of the metal guide, maybe there is a burr. If there is, file it with a metal nail file. Also maybe you need to change the presser on your foot.

Gee sorry, but my quarter edge doesn't fray my fabric. Don't have a clue what's causing this.

I have two of those, and my fabric doesn't fray... are you sure it's not the fabric?

Check your foot for any burs that may be causing this, but most likely it is the fabric. I found a liquid called "Fray Check" and it helps with those fabrics who shed like crazy.
