    Default Rookie mistakes

I'm joining in with the army of noisy frogs that live by our back pond - rip-it, rip-it, rip-it.....

The first quilt top I made, I had to frog the first set of blocks I made as my 1/4 inch seam was more like 3/8ths.... I can't tape a guide on my machine, as the 1/4 inch is right in the middle of my feed dogs.... Then I realised I had misread my ruler, and had cut 2 blocks 1/4 inch too short, and didn't have enough fabric left to cut out new blocks (they are large blocks), so I ended up "bodging" it, and adjusting the seam allowance... But it came together OK, and although I can see a few mistakes, no one else would notice. I hope.

So onto the current quilt top. I am using the Wiggly Whimsy pattern from Moda Bake Shop, using up the scraps from my first quilt plus some plain yardage. I am currently ripping, as my seams are just not matching up, and my wiggly is more like wonky... The mad thing is, that it is not all the panels, just the first 2 I sewed together - the others match up great!!

I know it is a learning curve, and new skills to master. And if I wasn't such a perfectionist, I probably would have left it... But I know if I don't do it now, it'll bug me all night....

Can I get a few sympathetic nods from those who have been there, and done that too, it'd make me feel a tiny bit better

A bad day in the sewing room is better than a good day at the office.

I'm a professional rip-it gal. I've done LOTS of ripping and am sure I'll be on that lilypad once again when I begin my next project. Hang in there, my friend. You are not alone.

Thank you!!! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one permanently attached to a seam ripper

I really need to invest in a 1/4 inch seam foot for my machine... But I am sure that won't stop me from occupying my lilypad. I do have an extra large lilypad, so everyone is welcome to come visit

Glad you are a member of the froggin' club. I'm sure membership is at 100%. lol I bought a seam ripper with a magnifier and light. At least now I don't strain my eyes while froggin'.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

We need one of those home depot retaracable things for the seam ripper too.....
