Default $750 for American Heart Association :D

We raised $750 for the AHA. Every year, for the past 5 years, I have run a Bass Fishing Tournament in memory of a dear friend of ours, who was loved by many many people. He and my DH were fishing partners for many years. Him and his wife were our best man, and matron of honor. It is a lot of work, but so fulfilling in the end. We were down in boat numbers this year, all my fault due to getting the info mailed out late, but as you all know I have not had a very good past 4 months.
I got to the lake at about 5 PM Fri evening, to take late entries, was up til almost 2 AM getting last minute stuff done. Weigh in slips, updating entries, and then just trying to unwind. Back up at 4 AM to be at the ramp by 5:30 AM for more late entries (some men just wait til the last minute). I did manage to get a short nap (1 1/2 hrs), in before more work had to be done before the weigh in. We then serve bbq and the fixins for the guys that fish.
I have a 50/50 drawing and one really nice raffle prize. Plus draw for door prizes for them, (also some very nice items) A set of 4 Cardinal Infield field boxes 3 rows off the field being one, nice rod and reel combo's, tackle systems, and much more. The first year I managed to get over $5000 in door prizes and donations. Talk about hustling your butt off .
Unless you have done something like this you can' t imagine the amount of work that goes in to something like this.
But after all the winners were paid, and the bottom line was figured out, we had $750 for the AHA. It is all worth it. A true blessing.
So if any of you sewing gals, have hubbies that love to bass fish, and are within driving distance to Lake of the Ozarks, see if they may want to fish our tournament next year. It is a good time, and ya never know what they may end up winning.

Way to go girl! I know how hard putting on a function can be. But the bottom line is ...it's worth it in the long run.

Life is like a party. You invite a lot of people; some go, some join you, some laugh with you, some didnít come. But in the end, after the fun, there would be a few who would clean up the mess with you. And most of the time, those were the uninvited ones.

Good deal! Putting on a tournament of any kind is hard work. I've helped a friend do a golf tournament before to raise money for scholarships.
