Thanks so much - just watching a couple more tutorials... I feel like I want to absorb as much as possible before I get stuck in ... or at least be able to think - 'I'm sure I saw something on this!'
The whole uploading pictures is another challenge - but I will get to grips with that too when I have my first block or 'something' to offer!!
    Blessings to you.

Hello, and welcome from Missouri. other than fabric and a sewing machine you will at the very least to get started, a cutting mat, rotary cutter, one ruler (at least 3"x18") and a seam ripper ( you will become best friends with this). Watch Jenny's tuts, and anything you need to know can be answered by the many seasoned, and talented quilters here. This is a wonderful forum, full of love, help, caring, and sharing.

I'd like to welcome you to our forum. I'm from NC. One thing that I've learned in quilting that I haven't seen mentioned yet is that all of your rulers need to be one brand. I learned the hard way that they don't all measure the same. If you stick to one brand for all of them, you should have no problem with consistency. You're about to embark on a journey that will have you addicted forevermore. The "Quilt Bug" does not let go! Just wait until you discover the swaps. They're a great way to increase your stash.

Thanks ladies... I must say it's great seeing all the places you are from in the States - most I've heard of from the West Wing

That is a great tip about sticking to one brand - I will see what my 'local' shop has when I visit on Saturday!!!

Welcome from Toledo OH. You are lucky to have a mother who quilts. Just like having your own teacher at hand. Happy quilting.
