Default Anyone done a Bargello quilt? They look SO pretty!

    Are they super complicated?

I didn't know they existed until about 5 minutes ago.
    How cool.

I don't think they are technically hard, but keeping track of what you are doing is the challenge. I definitely want to try this!

Our forum member Denis is teaching a class on making these. You might PM him for some expert advice.

I did one...I am neutral on it! I think they are fantastic to look at but didn't have much fun making it. 13 different fabrics was hard to put together just to buy them and then match the right so they "look" right. The tube way is a good easy way to make the strips, but then my problem was...all them seams at the top/FMQ quilting time! I ironed the seams opened to try to reduce the bulk, but with so many so close together, it just didn't work like I had hoped...maybe it was right and how it is supposed to be with that many seams, but I wasn't to happy with it. I didn't have a pattern.. i made it up on my own and tried for an "ocean" theme with the waves etc. I like it, looks nice and all, but not crazy about doing another one! But, not to say I won't. I did learn you have to have the strips thin...1/2 inch to 1,1/2 inch widest or you don't get the wavey look.
Heres pic of it...bit smaller than a twin size and has orca whales on the back!

Wow, this is beautiful...it certainly looks like waves and I especially like the brown on the bottom...excellent choice of,fabrics. Am starting a 6wk quilting course end of jan and one session will be on Bargello... Am scared stiff!!! Haha!

Ohhh, I really like that! However, (and I haven't done much research yet)...IDK if it would be fun for me to deal with all those tiny strips....ehhhh. So pretty though.

    Very pretty Cheri!

I think they are really nice but I have no desire to make one. I think it would drive me bonkers. lol

i did a simple one , think biggish squares. It wasn't so much hard as it was tricky to keep things in the right order. The method i used was to sew strips into a tube, cut to desired width then cut again to start with the proper color. Once you get started it does make sense
