Default While I was meandering today FMQ

As I was meandering today FMQ my grandson's Thomas the Train Quilt. Well I got to thinking- what else are you going to do while FMQ? My crazy little mind thought"Jeez I wonder how many stitches are in a quilt"? And then I thought it would be kinda of neat if we had a Stitchometer (kinda of like a speedometer on a car) so we could tell how many stitches we had just done. Okay I guess I am probably the only one who ever wondered this and the FMQ has either made me crazy or the fact that I am a Bookkeeper has got me concerned about numbers or stitches!!

Haha- I think it's the bookkeeper coming out! My machine tracks stitches somehow, because they can always tell how many I have put on it when I bring it in for a cleaning. Next time I will ask where to look so I can track it on a quilt!

My mind wanders too - I like to have some interesting/educational podcasts queued up on my phone. Why are butterfly wings luminescent, can you take vacations to Antarctica, how zero works, etc. Even if I don't learn from them, they keep my mind busy and I have the ability to focus on what's in front of me.

I would be very interested in knowing how many stitches have gone into a quilt.

Maybe it is the bookkeeper in us. Spent much of my years working as a bookkeeper and I have wondered how many stitches would be in certain quilts, how many knitted stitches in a sweater, how many steps you take on a familiar path etc etc.
I took up Quilting and gave up cooking!

It's the Bookkeepper in you!! For a long time in the 90's the job I had dealt with numbers. So, at night I would dream about numbers, random thoughts in my mind would come out as numbers. I saw numbers everywhere!! I'm not that weird now. I've been doing a lot of crochet lately....now I dream of crocheting!

My embroidery machine can count stitches, so maybe it's something we will see in the future on our sewing machines ????

I think that's interesting. Every design I embroider with my new machine has a stitch count and it's staggering how many stitches are in the simplest design. We would likely be shocked if we knew how many stitches we have sewn over the years.

I can't believe how smart these newer machines are that actually count stitches! WOW! It would be fun to know though.

Glad to see that I am not the only one who thought about this and that I am not crazy!!!
