Default question about backing for king sized quilts

Hello ladies! Hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

I have a question for you. If you are making a king sized quilt, how in the world do you find the backing piece to fit the top? I mean I know you can piece together materials to make the back piece, but just curious for those what they do in a situation like that?

You can piece the back, or you can purchase extra wide fabric that would make the back on one piece.

I get 108" fabric and add a border to match the front

They actually have quality muslin and some other backing fabrics that measure 120" in width. The easiest to find for wide backing is 108".

oh, and check out the free Craftsy course on creative quilt backs - she does amazing work on the BACK of the quilt - hey if you have to piece it anyway! I'd never thought of the back really but plan to try it on my next project!

Or, check out some flat sheets at the thrift store - a King Size flat sheet should be adequate for a quilt.

Christian Lane Quilters have wide backing fabrics at good prices and they always have sales. They have a great deal on Fat Backs; 3 1/4 yrds and the 1/4 is free.

I mainly use 108" Legacy muslin (white) from Joanne's and purchase with a coupon only...stuff is pretty pricey but has a wonderful hand to it.....I also use leftovers from it for sashing and borders and blocks and so on!
