Default Finished quilt top w/help needed.

    Hi,
I just finished my quilt top and I'm going to begin the process of basting. Any tips or tricks?
Also will a flannel backing or regular cotton fabric be better for the quilting process? Or is there a specifi fabric I should be looking for? This is going to be my first time actually quilting a blanket.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Oh my gosh, if my grandsons saw this, I'd be making lots of Batman quilts! It is sooooo cute! I think any backing would be fine, if you use flannel, make sure you prewash it first, beccause it shrinks a lot when washed. How are you going to quilt it? One of our forum buddies, Auntiemern, taught me a way to quilt these, she quilts across the squares from corner to corner, and they look great when done that way. If you look in her albums, you'll see some she has done this way. Are you going to quilt around the Batman logo?

It's hard to tell from the picture, but do you have Batman licensed fabric on the quilt? If so, I must get some, as 3 of my 4 grandsons are totally crazy about Batman.

Kiki, I like the 505 basting spray. I would suggest taping the backing fabric to the floor before spraying to hold it nice and tight.

Super cute. I would do exactly what Jean said. Quilt in a grid from corner to corner and maybe echo quilt around batman. I love it BTW.

I second what pcbatiks wrote - baste with 505 basting spray. There are other basting sprays, but this particular one doesn't smell like the others do, and a little goes a long way. Also doesn't gum up your needle. I also think that in a grid, from corner to corner, would work well.

Great quilt. I would quilt around the Batman emblem and then do the corner to corner also. And by quilting around the emblem it will make it stand out nicely.

It's all your fault! I just had to buy some Batman fabric to make one of these!

Thanks everyone for all your help! It looks like I'll be shopping tomorrow. I think the corner to corner will look great too! I will also be sewing around the emblem so hopefully I don't mess up too badly.
@Jean Sewing Machine Sorry, but I bet it's going to look great!

One last thing, when quilting from corner to corner do you trace a line to make it easier to sew?

I would trace a line - more accurate and I am new to quilting - love your batman fabric.
