Really love the look and the fabric. I am somewhat bothered by the fact there is no "sashing" on the left or bottom. What would happen if each row was reversed? It's still a beautiful quilt, but that does bother my design OCD a bit.

I see what you mean. What if you make 36 blocks and laid them out 6x6 and used the remaining squares to cut sashing for the left side and bottom. You could make your border a little larger. I like square quilts but I know not everyone feels the same. This would save you buying more fabric.

I like this one. Easy, quick and a good one to knock out quickly. I think I'll get some graph paper out and think about different lay outs.

It bothered me, too. I would have to add some coordinating fabric so that the left and bottom would have sashing as well. I do really like the fabric she used, such a cuddly looking quilt.

I noticed that. I like Barb's idea and probably would do that if/when I make this quilt. It's really cute! I love the scrappy look.

This is such a neat quilt and would go together fast. Somebody here was looking for a pattern recently for a large scale print that doesn't get too chopped up, and this would be perfect so I hope she sees this.

That was exactly what bothered me! I figured if I ever made this I would not do strips on the top squares and the same for the ones on that side. It really bothered me!

When I enter the world of patchwork my teacher taught us basic and simple techniques and this was one of them and I made a scrappy quilt with this technique to give to a girl who is now a teeneger and who still keeps it with love, I put a picture of the quilt and it can be seen that I use the same fabric for the both side and in plain colorsScrappy Munguia.jpg

I like how you alternated the direction of the blocks, it certainly solves the issue of that other's have mentioned about the lack of sashing on the left and bottom sides. And your center panel is sew cute too.

I think this will be perfect for a flannel layer cake I have. I need to make a blanket for my dil's shower in October. This will be just right to add to the box for our new little princess.

It sure would be a great way to use up scraps.

This tutorial reminded me of a previous one Jenny posted, which was called the Two Step quilt pattern. I just re-watched it. In that one, the main block is 5" (she used white) & JR strips are used for the side pieces (2 on each side). I previously made that pattern. I coordinated batiks fabrics for mine & cut up LC 10" squares into strips. It should be among my albums. It was colorful. I had a bunch of 2.5" squares & 4.5" rectangles left over which I incorporated into another project, a table runner.
