Block Name

On today's blog post by MSQ they posted a picture of a beautiful quilt captioned "The Studio Star quilt is STUNNING with the sunlight streaming through it!" It really is gorgeous. I looked up Studio Star and the tutorial doesn't look like this quilt. Am I not "seeing" it correctly? Is this indeed the Studio Star shown in this tutorial? If not, can someone tell me the name of the block in the picture? I really love it.

Yes, it's the Ribbon Star. The block on the left is from the blog photo and the one on the right is from the Ribbon Star tutorial on YouTube.

I noticed Jenny said it was also called 'Sisters Choice' so out of curiosity I looked for it on Google images. It's amazing how different they look depending on the fabric colour and how many different fabrics you use. Sometimes the design seems to disappear altogether. I think I would be careful about the choice of fabric and how you want the finished quilt to look - defined or scrappy.

I love the ribbon star pattern. Here is the one I made -- fabric choices produce different looks.

Exactly - since Jenny said it is also called Sisters or Fathers choice I guess the one on the right is Ribbon Star and on the left the same block Jenny was making by another name.
