  1. From African Women to International Sisters

Preeti has done it again! I really love the fact that she creates her own patterns for various quilt blocks - and then freely shares them with everyone. Besides looking at this particular pattern,...

Re: I need advice...will this work?

I thought the same thing. Your quilt is so very lovely. I think a SITD would not compete with the beautiful embroidery. I honestly don't think a decorative stitch would add anything to the quilt.

Re: Scraps scraps and more scraps

Great work on the quilt, and I love the name. I have a similar quilt top. I have decided that I have to make it larger before I layer and quilt it.

I love scrap quilts. Including the one I want...

    Re: Polyester thread suggestions

I really like Aurifil for a cotton thread, but it is expensive. I have used Isacord a lot for FMQ, when I wanted the shine of a polyester thread. It is a 40 wt trilobal. I think the shine sometimes...

    Re: WiP Jan 4 - 10, 2019

Well, I'm going to make a try at it again to get back my quilting mojo! I have a flannel throw quilt to layer, baste and quilt. So that will be my focus for the coming week. I also have 2 doctor...

Re: Help with cat/snail tail quilt!!!???

All I know is that there has to be 1/4" of the background fabric above the tips of the cats ears. That allows for the 1/4" seam without cutting off the tips of the ears.

Re: Help using flannel for backing

This is very helpful. I have two flannel tops, and I have a cotton top that will be backed with flannel. I never thought about the extra shrinkage in flannel.
  8. Re: New group: "Finished is better than perfect" 2019 edition

Thank you so much, lourixe, for taking over this group. :icon_happy: I am looking forward to participating and getting projects done next year. I have an ambitious agenda, but I am going to do my...
  9. Re: OK, What's cooking in your house for Christmas Dinner?

I like a combination of potatoes, green beans and corn mixed with lemon butter. It can be served warm or at room temperature. I usually use frozen green beans and corn. Roasted veggies is also a good...

Re: My Pineapple quilt in progress,

It is lovely. I was expecting to see the stylized pineapple pattern. I really like this one.
  13. Re: Scrappy table runner - How would you make this?

This is what I was trying to explain in regards to the diagonal rows. You are right, about the four patches. There are 8- four patches, and then a 2 patch.

good morning everyone! It looks like I am getting this posted just under the wire, again, at least for EST! I dfeid some research myself regarding drug interractions. I have been taking my...
  15. Re: Scrappy table runner - How would you make this?

Yes, this is the way it is done. However, with the design Brenda wants to make, the diagonal rows have only 3 - 2.5" squares and then the setting triangles. (Don't know what size they would be -...

    Re: WiP Oct 12 - 18, 2018

I continue my search through my stash for 6 coordinating pieces of fabric (fat quarter or larger) with which to make fall colored placemats. I have plenty of browns, some gold, and a bit orange, but...

Re: Scraps, Scraps, and More ....... Scraps!

Yes, Karen, you are right. I knew something was wrong with my calculations, as the last time I was making this quilt from fat quarters, I was pretty sure I needed more than 6. I will need 7 FQs....

And I will add something else to this old thread. What is this muslin everyone talks about as backing for quilts? The only muslin I am vaguely familiar with is the muslin dressmakers use while making...
