THANKS TO ALL! GOT IT TAKEN CARE OF!
I am at the end of my giant Warm & Natural 80/20 Needled Cotton batting roll.
I got this one a few yrs. ago at a Quilt Expo, and now having trouble finding it. I have been all over internet, and...
Thinking about getting one - please rate yours 1-10 and why!
So you rip and just stitch over it? You don't knot of the threads where you finishing ripping? Does stitching over it hold it?
I have seen a tie off video. Thanks!
So you rip out from the top?
well once you rip them out - i believe you can't just let them be - they need to be ended or tied off or something! otherwise we leave a loose end!
ok but thanks
FYI - It's a big area - like entire length of longarm by at least 12"
how do you lock the stitches you rip out?
I've seen a million posts about setting tension to avoid nests under the backing during longarm quilting. Having said that, that's not what I need.
I'm wondering how YOU rip out those nests while...
Well go figure, that is the thread I use!
Good luck to you!
I feel like this is for sure the top tension. It torks me how it can change from moment to moment.
I think I got the bobbin tension down - I get your description, and thats what I always do. My...

ARGHHHH! Can't get photo here!
I know there are classes online - but some seem so "general". I wish there was one specifically for my machine. It did come with a video, but again, very general.
It's that tweaking the top tension...
My machine does have a stitch regulator.
Thanks So much!
I don't use pins or rulers, I wonder if I'm moving too fast sometimes and breaking needles.
I do use the Towa bobbing gauge. It's the top tension I have nightmares over. I thought...
What do you use exactly to practice on your longarm? Do you use sheets from yard sales? Do you always have to buy batting? Can you use an old blanket instead of batting? Do you have to have some type...
Thought of that - but almost seems like more work than ripping and tying!???!!! (Cuz I would still have to rip to do the cutting of cotton and applying of stabilizer :icon_heh:
My grandma was a "crazyquilt" gal, my mom quilted, and mother-in-law! So clearly I had no choice!
Have a Tshirt quilt with NO stabilizer on the shirts, altho does have cotton fabric behind each shirt (no help). Loaded it on my longarm, and what a nightmare! Ripples, bubbles & puckers! Oh My!...
Thanks for info Jean! Hey! I voted for that quilt!!!!!!!
Do you use it for top and bobbin? Is it cotton or poly or blend? The dealer I bought the longarm machine from I believe suggests Signature? Thanks GrammaBabs for always being helpful!
The best QAYG tutorial I've seen is by Leah Day - FABULOUS teacher!
