Re: Don't know what this is called

Mine has never done that particular thing but he knows when there is something new in the sewing room and immediately lays on it to nap.
  2. Re: Make a "Mountain Lily" Quilt with Jenny Doan

Love the idea of 30s fabrics.

    Re: WIP - February 14-20, 2020

I finished my Frolic quilt, hand sewed the last of the binding last night and I am considering putting it in the guild show in Oct. I am not sure about being judged though.:0
    I also did another...

    Re: Baby clothes input please!

My DIL used the changing/play mats more than anything else. I made several and they were in use for about 4 years while the two kids were in diapers. They saw more use than any clothes could be.
    If...
  5. Re: Make a "Mountain Lily" Quilt with Jenny Doan

I like that quilt but as usual my mind was thinking about how to change it a little. :icon_rolleyes:
I would like the top of each block quarter squares be sky colored, lol. Either the green is a bit...

Re: It's Friday and cold as H**LL

Happy Valentines to you all, much love to all my forum friends.
Yesterday we had a surprise call from some long time friends, they were coming to town for a grandson's ballgame and want to get...

    Re: Juki 2200QVP problems

I have had one about a year and the only two problems I have had are pretty simple. It doesn't like to sew northwest and will often break thread or make a knot. It also started having a blackish oily...
  8. Re: Newbie needs advice on choosing backing

I usually choose a backing that has a pattern so my many mistakes don't show. I don't think dark or light makes as much difference as having a pattern does.
I just made a quilt using flannel as the...

Re: Are there border width rules?

My idea about borders is there can't be enough, lol. Actually I either go with what a pattern says if using one or by how big I want the quilt or by how much border fabric I have.

    Re: fmq on Frolic

Here it is partly quilted. As you might be able to see I didn't do the hst borders just used some of the fabric to finish it off. I felt like it was busy enough without adding the hst around. I also...

    Re: Need batting information please.

The 80/20 is my preference but I have no tried wool yet. I found cotton to be too flat and poly tends to mat if ironed and I iron my bindings.

    Re: fmq on Frolic

    I haven't made a picture yet but I will when I finish.
I went and stared at it for a while and started doing swirls which is looking ok. I did the back in flannel and it is heavy to move around. I...

    fmq on Frolic

I have my quilt made and sandwiched and now I am in freeze mode. I don't know what to do about quilting it. Has anyone got any bright ideas? I would love suggestions. MY fmq is somewhat limited but I...

    Re: Half-square triangle fun

I have been using some of the cake mix papers for hst and they work pretty well, squared up as you trim the paper. I have a roll of hst paper that I have never used that will make bigger ones that I...

    Re: WIP- February 7-13, 2020

It might be best to sandwich the quilt then cut off the excess back.
  16. Re: Help please. machine binding on front wrinkles

Are you using bias binding or is it straight across the width of fabric? Bias is much more likely to pucker/wrinkle. A walking foot should help as others have mentioned.

    Re: Good Sunday Morning

I managed to get my Frolic mystery quilt sandwiched yesterday. I made it a little smaller than the pattern and didn't do the hst borders, it is pretty busy so I just did a small stop border and a 3"...

    Re: Half-square triangle fun

Some of my stash is a mystery, sometimes I think it reproduces in the closet. Usually it is in lengths that are not quite enough for my project.:icon_heh:

    Re: Saturday Greetings! :)

Good start to the weekend, we had hail this morning that woke me up. It was loud but didn't last too long. More rain is on the way and there has been road flooding in low spots. Our area is fairly...

    Re: Flannel quilt

Are you going to FMQ it or use a walking foot? Usually one gauges the size of the needle by the type of thread but when FMQ you might need a larger one. I would probably try a little sample using a...
  21. Re: Ruler Foot trouble, tension problems? Need help :(

Does it work OK with your regular hopping foot? I think I would try and see if you can fmq normally then change to the ruler foot and see if it works right.

    Re: WIP- February 7-13, 2020

I still need to take a trip to H-Lobby to get some fabric for my Frolic border so I have been working on my guild challenge quilt. I too the first section to guild last night as did about 30 others...
  23. Re: Make a "Brilliant Swirl" Quilt with Jenny Doan

It seems to me it would be a 45%, please correct me if I am wrong since I love this but don't have the perfect trimmers and don't plan to get them. I have block locks that I am perfectly happy with.

    Re: It's a Wednesday post!!

It is another rainy day here and the same outlook for the next 9 or 10, bummer. Oh well, winter in Alabama. It will help fill the lakes after last years drought.
I am at a standstill on my Frolic...
