Re: Bowl Cozy Frenzy Pic heavy

Wow that's a lot of stuff! You must be exhausted after all that sewing. Your items and displays look fabulous. Good luck with your sales.

Re: What do you call various size quilts?

I always call any quilt smaller than a twin a throw (except for crib or baby quilts), but I don't think that's an official name for it. My grandma called small ones napping quilts but she did not sew...

    Re: Hello

Hello from Wisconsin and it is nice to have another hand quilter join the group. I also favor simple traditional patterns myself. But I really enjoy pics posted by others here showing complex quilt...

    Re: goof

You could cut them all the same size before you start or use them as is and make the correction when you square them up.
  6. Re: A question about choosing quilt colors (from and old book)

I don't have any answers for you but I would love to get my hands on an old book like that. I think it would be so interesting to read.

    Re: Hello I am ThornCherish

Welcome from Wisconsin! My favorite batting is 100% cotton. I like quilts to feel heavy (I am always cold) plus cotton gives that nice crinkly look after it is washed. I was looking at a quilt I made...
  8. Re: Please help me decide thread color for quilting...help

That's very cool. I would use dark purple or black. White would show up on all the colors you have but wouldn't be as dramatic.

    Kona charm pack 101 pc

Just an FYI. I just got the Kona dusty CP with 101 pc from M. The colors are just beautiful!! In a normal sized CP you usually get two of each color so I thought there would be four of each color....

    Re: Wool Pressing Mat Brand

I got mine at Quilt in A Day, it was on sale I think $15-ish which was a good price. It is about 9x11 and about 1 inch thick. I usually make mostly 6 or 8 inch blocks so that size works for me. It...

    Re: Pattern Name

To me that looks like 5 inch squares plus 2.5 inch sashing and about a 4-inch border. It is pretty basic and you could easily make one with no pattern at all.

Edit: Haha Joy, I didn't read your...

  17. Re: Make a "Wandering Star" Quilt with Jenny Doan

My goodness where did Jenny come up with that awful fabric. I like the quilt pattern though. I see it in deep purples and dark blues with yellow stars. And maybe not such busy prints.

Re: different fabrics on quilt top

I made an I Spy quilt using cotton 5 inch squares for the picture blocks and flannel for the border, sashing, and backing and it looked fine. Honestly unless the recipient is a sewer or a quilter, I...
  24. Re: Maureen McCormick Visits Missouri Star Quilt Co.

That was fun to watch and I think she looks pretty much the same except for the glasses! I didn't know she was a quilter either but they seemed equally thrilled to meet each other!
  25. Re: National Park Block Borders or Just Sashing

I love your blocks!! I am not sure I understand your question though. Maybe there is a confusion in terms? Normally a "border" refers to the very outside edge of your quilt on all four sides, and...
