    Re: Hello World :)

So good to hear from you! Glad you are safe. I was in Oregon several years ago near some big fires. Did not enjoy smelling the smoke, it made me feel sick the whole time I was there.

    Re: UPDATE ON DOTTIE....

So sorry. You knew what was best for her, although it broke your heart. And she crossed the rainbow bridge quietly in your loving arms. My heart is breaking with you. I feel like Dottie belonged...

    Re: OUR DOTTIE....

So sorry to hear this. I know you have been working with her medical issues for quite some time, rueing the day when you might have to make this decision. I know you are heartsick about deciding to...

    Re: TEACUP QUILT FINISHED

Love this! I really like the Teacup pattern, I finished piecing one over Thanksgiving, and need to finish it.
  7. Re: What's the oddest thing you've been asked to make

Adam and Eve costumes for a play. Thank goodness for artificial fig leaves! Oh, and just two weeks ago, I made a Stanley Cup dress for a local St. Louis Blues hockey fan. Last year, my neighbor...
  8. Re: Heard From Lenore in Australia

I so enjoyed getting to see her when we met at the forum retreat. She had some lovely quilts ( in progress) that she shared with us! And she introduced Tim Tams to us, a decadent cookie made in...

    Re: HQ Stitch 710 Machine

I know there is a HandiQuilter510 that is made by Janome and is a clone of their straight stitch 1600. So this very well might be made by Janome.

    Re: ANOTHER FINISHt

Love that, it is so pretty!
  11. Re: Longarm machine question: Baby Lock = Handi Quilter?

One dealer near me sells ProStitcher for HandiQuilter, Janome and Bernina machines. It very well could work on the BabyLock.
  12. Re: Can poly/cotton blend broadcloth be used for quilting?

If you don’t mind the cotton/poly feel and look, sure, go ahead and use it. Some ploy/cotton broadcloth is very thin and ravels easily. Take these points into consideration when choosing colors and...

    Re: Pattern name

Looks similar to a pattern I have used that uses fat quarters, called Fat Friday. Very easy and looks good.
That quilt has narrow sashing, Fat Friday doesn’t use sashing....

    Re: Feeling Accomplished

I’m interested in hearing how you like working with a robot on your longarm. Keep us posted!
  17. Re: Buckeye Beauty Quilt is Finished! :)

I love this. I’ve used that quilting pattern on several quilts but used a ruler. Love that you did this freehand!
  18. Re: tangled bobbin thread at start of seam

Don’t use the thread cutter or use a leader and chain piece.

Re: Shirt quilt advice and tips?

Yes that is the pattern my daughter and I used. She made hers with Hawaiian shirts and most were rayon. I think she used SF101 stabilizer on hers. She was only given 7 shirts but she made a lap...

Re: It's Tuesday! New Years Eve

Good morning! It’s cold here also, and kind of a grey day. I would love to see the sun some time soon!

I have some theatre friends who participate in a yearly friendly family lip sync contest...
  21. Re: has anyone signed up for the 365 block challenge, a block a day for a year?

Several of our members at the forum retreat were working on these blocks. Our member Klasien from the Netherlands did this several years ago, and it turned out lovely. She came to visit me in the...

    Re: tea towels

I’ve used the ones sold by MSQC for my tea towel aprons. I embroider on most of them. Other than wrinkling when being washed, they hold up well.
  24. Re: Cotton quilt top with flannel backing advice

I usually prewar my flannel. Especially if using a dark color! I use color catchers in the Washer with dark color fabric and use warm water.
