    Re: Good Sunday Morning

Oh too funny about your DH dealing for a car. I am not a pushover for salespeople, and never pay more than willing. If they won't budge enough on price, I get them to throw in extra services,...

    Re: Good Sunday Morning

    Good day all,
Another crisp and sunny day. Love, love these temps with no humidity. GDs started school 2 weeks ago, and my GS starts this week. His sister is starting pre-k, but they stagger the...
  4. My new vintage Singer 99 (1925)

I'm so happy with my recent purchases. This house content sale was close to home and had 3 sewing machines. A kind man offered to swap his #20 with my #21, so I could go in the first group allowed...
  5. Re: Do you use different colors of batting?

I normally use beige batting. However I have bought white batting for quilts where the white fabric seemed thinner and i wanted a crisp white to show through. On one quilt that had a dark and a...

It's beautiful and appears to be in good condition for its age.

I would suggest making a label and adding some info about your grandma on the back. I plan to do that with my grandmother's quilts.

    Re: Yeah, Saturday!

Woohoo! I was part of the first group let in to the house content sale. I quickly paid for the Husquarvana sewing machine and metal bench with 4 cushions. I also noticed a bin with binders and...
  8. Re: FAT QUARTER FUN! Donna's FREE Diamonds Squared Quilt!

I love this one. It's very cheery and it would look quite different in other prints as well.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Yeah, Saturday!

    Good day,
It's a beautiful sunny, crisp morning. I love this weather, with no humidity - I could enjoy this year round. I was up early and gave PJ a tummy rub. He sensed I was awake and took...

    WIP - August 23-29, 2019

It's been a hectic week, with lots of sewing sprinkled in. Going to start the thread and hoping that Karla is still on the mend.

I decided to target the M* kindred pinwheels quilt. The blocks...

    Re: Hey hey it's Friday!!

    Happy TGIF.
I was on earlier but had to get showered and ready by 9am. Lord knows I don't do mornings well, unless it's to go to a quilt store or quilt with a friend. Dorothy & I were going to pick...

Re: Sad Week for our family.

My heart and prayers go out to you and all the family. What a shock! So young. There are no words.

I hope that all the great memories and times together will help to ease your sorrow. Hugs.

    Re: Dawn Awakens Bargello

Awesome! Beautiful quilt. I'm thinking it must be large with that much fabric. How big is it?

Re: Do Batik Fabrics Play Well?

When I was picking fabrics for my first quilt, the store person helped me mix batiks with regular cottons. I didn't that was right, but it was fine and now I often mix when I can't find the perfect...

    Re: WIP - August 16-22, 2019

Claire - then you are very fast accurate cutter, piecer. I probably get 8-10hrs /wk on average. On a really good week, I get 20hrs, that maybe every 6 weeks. Like you I don't sew at night, but I will...

    Re: running for president

Haha. That's a good one. Even if he's a Tom Cruise look alike. I don't tink Tom Cruiise couldn't run anyway. He was born in Canada, and I think you must be born in US to run.
  19. Re: Another VQC quilt - 9 patch border done

I have no issue in quilting with flannel backing. In fact I findthe flannel sticks to the batting, and since I oin these, the layers stay together well.

    Re: Well Thursday has arrived

    Good morning,
It was rumble & tumble last night. No rain. The storms missed us. It's supposed to be cooler in the next few days. It sounds like everyone is busy. If you didn't see it, check out...

    Re: White Fabric dilemma

When I first started quilting, I bought some whites, not really thinking or concerned about the weight of whites. Then I made a few quilts and their sheerness really concerned me, so I would press to...

  25. Another VQC quilt - 9 patch border done

This was a summer project I committed to doing. It's a 9 patch border and squares, all set on point. It's almost necessary to lay out on a design wall, for ease of sewing and dispersing colour...
