Re: Pics from Machine Quilters Expo

It was a great show for sure! Both Cyndi and I took classes with Leah Day (different classes though) and got to see a trunk show of her goddess quilts.

The quilt that Cyndi and her DH are...

Re: Pics from Machine Quilters Expo

MQX is held in the spring in Manchester, NH, and then they do another one I think in the fall in the midwest somewhere.

Re: FMQ on domestic machine help

Hi Blondie: I have never had an issue with skipped stitches due to spray baste. Your issue could be the type of needle you're using. Try using a topstitch needle. That is all I use when I FMQ.

    Re: FMQ with standard machine

If you don't have the little plastic thing that Swedish Leo mentioned, set your stitch length to zero and cover your feed dogs with masking tape or blue painters tape. Just keep the area open for...

Re: The MQX show in Manchester, NH

I went to the MQX for the first time last year. I took 2 classes and spent a whole day at the show. It's an incredible event! I'm going again this year and taking 2 more classes--one from Leah...

    Re: Anyone ever made syrup?

My DH makes syrup every spring. We have no sugar maples but other maple trees work just as well. He uses a turkey fryer to boil the sap (OUTSIDE!--it makes the house way too steamy) and then brings...

    Re: QNN.com

I've had it for 2 years now and love it! I enjoy most of all the shows, especially Quilt It and all the back issues of Fons and Porter. I think it is well worth the $24.

    Re: Lap quilt

Such a beautiful quilt! I love the pattern, and your FMQ is outstanding. Yes, they do stiffen up the more we quilt them. I, too, have that problem.
  13. Re: In case you've been following our adoption saga, here's the latest

I'm so sorry Cyndi. No child deserves this, nor Bethany and the rest of you. Little C is a real sweet child and I pray all this will fall far from him when it is all over. We'll be praying.

    Re: My Latest

Sue, Golden Threads is like a light weight velum or a heavy tissue paper. You can see through it to line-up your motif and it rips really easily. It's the remaining little pieces that are the pain....

    Re: My Latest

Thank you everyone for your kind words. My "fabric choices" was a collection of 1930s fabrics that I've been collecting over the past few years (FQs and half yard cuts). What's great about these...

    Re: My Latest

The Golden Threads paper is fantastic to work with! It tears pretty easily and is strong enough to withstand some rough handling. It was just a pain to have to tear off so much paper.

    My Latest

Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you my latest quilt. I don't move quickly: this one I started early February and just finished it over the weekend. It's a 1930s reproduction quilt called...

    Re: straight line quilting...marking lines

Watch out for those frixion pens...they leave a faint white line when you use them on dark fabric. And it doesn't go away with ironing.
