    Re: MSQ--not always best buy

M* is always my 1st choice.

$5 shipping is hard to beat, I love knowing I will get the yardage I ordered, the fabric quality is excellent, the employees are pleasant to deal with, the company...

Re: Log cabin-- currently hate it!

I also love the versatility of log cabin blocks. So many possibilities!

I am not a pre-cutter. I only cut the center, then sew and trim as I go along. It is a very time consuming block, this helps...
  3. Re: Easy Self Binding Baby Blanket with Shannon Cuddle New Jenny tutorial

Wow, so easy! I am loving that double gauze, and I was doing so good on not buying any more fabric! LOL

I think flannel would be great to use. You can leave an edge when topstitching it down, and...

Re: Can you tell me why you would like batiks?

    Sorry, forgot to say:

I NEVER ever prewash fabric. Not even batiks.

Depends on what you want to cut.

I have a scan n cut, for applique pieces. I LOVE it!

Re: Can you tell me why you would like batiks?

Thanks for all the nice compliments!

The bird is on a sewing machine cover. For some reason I do not have a lot of detail pictures of it. I used lots of batiks on it also.

Re: Can you tell me why you would like batiks?

    Thank you!

And no, I did not hand quilt the fairy one. I free motion quilted it. It was a gift for one of my aunts. My father had me make 2 quilts, one for each of his sisters, same pattern,...

Re: Can you tell me why you would like batiks?

I LOVE batiks beacuse I love the added depth and texture they give. I love bright batiks and pastel batiks and earthy toned batiks. They are my go-to's for applique.

    Re: Applique question

You will be able to tell if you need stabilizer under the background fabric if you get tunneling along the edges.

I have to agree with the warnings that you may not be able to sew through the...

    They are all so gorgeous!

I am currently working on a charm pack quilt, with the yellow Eleanor Burns line.

I have been contemplating borders, and yours is so beautifully done!

Re: Teflon oven liners are AWESOME for FMQ!

You cover the feed when you do free motion work, because the feed dogs are dropped anyways for free motion work.

The teflon sheet makes the quilt slide so much easier.
  14. Re: what to do with tons of yards of double knit

Project Linus got several yards of it as a donation, and I used it as the middle layer of a rag quilt. It worked great!
  15. Re: What do you dislike about your sewing machine?

    No, I have 12!

They are not all in the same room. 5 live downstairs. 3 of the downstairs machines do not work. (2 were gifts. I'll have them fixed as soon as I can). One lives in his travel...

Re: How often to service a sewing machine

My dealer recommends professional cleaning every 18 months to 2 years. And he has a 24 hour service policy. I LOVE that I am only without my machine for 24 hours, even though I have a few backups.
  19. Re: What have you purchased that you never use or would never buy again?

fabric paint. I just can not bring myself to use it, because I am afraid to ruin the fabric. The people at the sewing expo booth made it look so easy though!
