Re: Suggestions for 2nd Machine for Quilting

If you’re looking for lower cost you can’t go wrong with the brother 1500. I have quilted several king size on mine.

    Re: Considering the brother PQ1500s

I love my brother. It’s so fast! I don’t do any fancy fmq, just meander and loops, but I’ve done 3 CA king size with no problems. Yes, the larger throat makes a world of difference.

Your 2 strips sewn together should measure 4-1/2” but that doesn’t matter. She says cut your squares to 5” and then cut your strip set at 5” then sew together so you’re matching one strip to the...

I have a dining table that is 42 x 88 so I use that for everything but king size. Even the king I have found that once I get them smoothed and pinned on the floor, with help I can move it to the...

Re: Want to be brave & tell us your age?

I’m 62 and most of the time I don’t think about it. My oldest daughter turned 40 last year and it really bothered her. The only time it bothers me is when I remember my mother only lived to 73 and my...

    Re: Sewing furniture

I also just use 2 folding tables that are height adjustable. I use one low for sewing and have one high for cutting. I can lower the second one to make a larger space for fmq. My sewing room can...
  13. Re: This has got to be the easiest method for connecting your binding ends.

The only thing I do differently is I baste first just to make sure it's right and then sew. I think this is tricky because we only do it once per quilt.

Re: Can't remember name of tutorial

I think you understand, however, if you start with 2 10" squares I'm pretty sure you will have much larger (maybe 9-1/2") hst. Somewhere there's a chart, hopefully someone will post it.

Re: Can't remember name of tutorial

Jenny usually does the 5" squares sewn all the way around, cut on the diagonal to make 4 hst. The magic eight method I have done with 10" squares, mark both diagonals and sew 1/4" on each side of...

    Re: Jenks OK?

My husband and I both grew up in the Oklahoma City area but moved away in 1974. It would be my first choice for where to move when he retires but not his. I think it's a great place.

Re: *Birthday alert* VCHALE's turn today

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Had a mostly quiet day except one of my daughters had a bunch of 50 roses delivered to me from costco. I had to use 3 different vases but they are beautiful!

  24. Re: Autumn Stars tutorial question/clarification

You cut the sashing pieces the same size as your blocks, then add your cornerstones to the long sashing pieces between rows.
