    Re: Need batting information please.

Try wool batting. It has higher loft and does not crease.

Re: Are there border width rules?

Rules are meant to be broken :icon_razz:

I have added skinny borders (3/4") to protect HST points from being eaten up by the binding.
    Make your own rules, GIRLLLL!!!

    Re: International Sisters Block Tutorial

Try the Diagonal Seam Tape. It helps with 1/4" seam but is also super helpful for snowballing.
If your 1/4 seam is too wide, try shifting the needle to the right by 3-4 points.
    If it is too scant...

Re: Sending Out a Quilt Top to be Finished or DIY?

I do it myself on my Elna. It has 11" to the right of the needle and I can quilt queen size quilts easily.
I do not FMQ, just walking foot.

    Re: wash before binding?

    Is the binding already washed?
    If yes, then go ahead.
If not, then don't. Wash after binding.

Re: Make a "Diamond Pavers" Quilt with Jenny Doan

How many new (or newish ) quilters would be comfortable about just eye-balling the strip and stitching it on the 10" square? It would be a nightmare if the strip (once flipped) did not cover the...

    Re: Colorwash360 - Mixed Feelings

It was a long and a painful process with several do-overs, but I love the final outcome. It was like a long labor with a beautiful baby - hence the name :-)

Re: How Would You Fix This?

Imperfections make the quilt. It is not a problem that I would fix, if it was my quilt.

    Re: Does anyone know.....

Granny square is not exactly a simple block. But when you place it on point, all the magic and beauty of the block will be lost.
All diamonds will appear as plain squares.
    It will become more...

    Re: Salvage edge

I use selvages all the time, if the print is continuous. If it is white, then I trim just enough so that it is captured in the seam.
But many a time I just leave it in there.

It has happened to me. Hate snowballing.
I'd suggest you practice on scrap fabrics and sew a thread away from the diagonal line, towards the corner.

    Colorwash360 - Mixed Feelings

I took a class with Wanda Hanson of Exuberant Color, learning how to make Colorwash quilts. Here is my finished quilt. I have named her Mixed Feelings and she measures about 36" by 38".
