  1. Re: I Disliked Joining Strips - I Started Using QR's Mini-Triangle Ruler

Thanks. I am going to try this the next time as I often struggle with my binding strips.
  2. Re: Make an "Inside Out Heart" Wall Hanging Quilt with Jenny Doan

Love the idea of making the center with minky or chenille. How sweet would that be?

Re: REPLAY: Crumb Quilting with Jenny

Yes, it is also sometimes called that. Great way to use up odds and ends.

    Re: Polyester fleece blanket batting?

I'm with old man quilts. This can be an expensive habit and I have to admit my first couple quilts were far from things of beauty but I was still happy with them. It is like anything - practice...

    Re: Tack Stik?

Yep - I also use the Elmers washable glue stick. It is a lot cheaper than any made specifically for sewing.

    Re: Ruler quilting

Top stitch is a type of needle. It is used for free motion quilting. So Denise is saying to look for a 100/16 needle. If you can find one that says Top Stitch that is even better. I am not sure...

Re: Looking for a font for baby quilt

Shiny Happy World has a free font that you can print out. It is just the outline.

Re: Craft Fair went well today

I think the one she is referring to is called Pleasantly Wrapped or something like that. It has a cute bow on it.

Re: satin binding - make or pre-made?

Like Vonnie, I do not put binding on my rag quilts. I sew about 1/2" in from the edge all the way around and then rag the edges also.

Re: Make a "Brick Yard" Quilt with Jenny Doan

I thought it was pretty when I saw this in the latest Block magazine but really like it in this fabric. It looks like a totally different quilt.

    Re: Diamond Chain Pattern

I think that would be right because I thought she said to use one charm pack to make the HST's and use the 2nd charm pack to make the chain. I will go back and rewatch it quickly and update this if...
  13. Re: Make a "Waves" Quilt with Jenny Doan of Missouri Star 08.09.19

Cute quilt but I am not ready to give curves a spin. I have enough trouble with straight lines!

    Re: Unicorn panel quilt

That border really makes the quilt. I would have never thought to use that. Beautiful quilt.
  15. Re: Make a "Diamond Chain" Quilt with Jenny Doan

I love this one. I have a ton of charms and seem to rarely find a pattern I like that uses them. This has the potential to be a go to pattern.

    Re: Butterfly Sunshine Lattice

Huh. I really didn't like this pattern when Jenny did it but it is amazing how different fabric changes up the whole look. I like this a lot.

    Re: Lightweight solution?

Another suggestion is the fewer the seams, the less the weight. Maybe a simple panel with a few borders. Once you start sewing all those small pieces together it does keep getting heavier and...

Re: Big Big Mistake on My First Log Cabin Quilt

Another option if you don't mind a little bit of ripping is to take all four of the outer strips off that cut block. Then take another block and remove two of the outer strips. Sew those 2 strips...

Re: Cute pattern for cat lovers

His chicken quilt is cute and easy too. I would have to at least tack down the beak and comb on it but it would be a quick one to put together.

    Re: What would you do?

I also love Terial Magic. I cut it about half with water and use it in place of starch when I really don't want something to stretch. It is also great to use to stiffen up fabric a little if you...

Re: Make a "Night Sky" Quilt with Jenny Doan

Cute, cute, cute. It got a little rushed with that sashing strip but I am sure I could figure it out. I really like this done in the bright colors.

  24. Re: What size needle do you use when binding a quilt?

I use what is in my machine. So either an 80 or a 90. I think the 90 does work a little better at going through all the layers. I abhor hand sewing so I do my bindings in the machine.
