Re: WIP - 3/1/15 - March, in like a lamb?

Spent Monday and Tuesday making a lap quilt for Fort Hood and today working in the yard. Terrible, terrible wind blowing here and the wind is cold so I ended up with earaches. Tomorrow I start...

Re: WIP - 2/23/16 - Last week of the month!

Very pretty! Whenever I have those slight ripples I usually wash it before gifting it and the slight shrinkage of the batting hides it. I bet if he's like my grandson though he'll just be very...

Re: WIP - 2/23/16 - Last week of the month!

My husband left town early this morning and after having the big party for my daughter last night I wanted to do nothing today but sew. I spent about 8 hours sewing today and finished a Disappearing...

Very nice! What fabric line did you use? My granddaughter asked for a purple quilt and this looks like it would fit the bill.

    Re: Frustrated new quilter

Congratulations for being brave and yelling help! I've known many a beginning quilter who suffered in silence because they were too embarrassed or afraid to admit frustration or a lack of...
  10. Re: Actual patterns vs blogs, you tubes, and just looking at quilt

The quilter I am today is much different than the quilter I was 5 years ago, or 10 years ago and certainly different from the quilter I was 40 years ago. So many things have changed over time. I...

    Re: Setting on point dilehma

That is not a real on point layout. You have a square quilt laid out turned with a point at the top and bottom. Turn your picture just slightly and you'll see the 3x3 layout is square. A true on...

    Re: Fabric scissors recommendation

I have several pair of Ghingers in varying sizes but my favorite pair are the Gingers my Grandmother sewed with for years. I have them sharpened every 4-5 years since I don't use them a lot anymore....

    Re: Friday Greetings

I am hosting a 40th birthday party for my daughter tonight with about 50 people in attendance so there won't be any sewing for me today. I'll be in and out of the kitchen all day. Tomorrow however...

Re: I'm In A Quilting Funk!

I think every quilter I've ever known goes through what you are at least once. Quit worrying about that quilting. The tops aren't going anywhere and you'll get your desire to quilt back at some...

Re: Warm & Natural Cotton Batting

Personally I like the look of the quilt after it has its 3% shrinkage. I use both Hobbs 80/20 and Warm and Natural batting and both have some shrinkage. I always wash every quilt I give before...

    Re: Order progress

I reiterate, I have no problem with their shipping. No one ships as quickly as M* does 85% of the time. On the 7th, 8th and 9th I ordered the DD. The order from the 8th shipped on the 9th and the...

    February Block

Just wondering if you have received your February Block? When I checked my account it says my Block has shipped and I should have received it. Yet, I've not received it. Curious if others have.

    Re: Quilt Ideas

I like it, it is very nice. I agree with the suggestion of a soft yellow border with a black binding. I think you did a great job!

Re: Using Bloc loc with rotating cutting mat

You only turn the block if you don't rotate the mat. You are right, with a rotating mat you just rotate the mat then you just slide the ruler down and trim again.

Re: can I cut it in half

Yes, you can cut it down the middle. I've done that more than once. Just bind the cut side with a regular binding that coordinates with the quilt.

    Re: Prints Charming Charms

A Disappearing 4 patch would work if you have a solid to add with it. Adding a solid with the charm pack will give you 21 8.5" unfinished blocks. You could sash them to make it a little bigger. I...

Re: WIP - 2/23/16 - Last week of the month!

Managed to sneak off to the studio for a couple of hours this afternoon but it will be the last chance before Saturday. Worked on a Disappearing 4 patch for charity quilt. I have the blocks ready...

That is wonderful. May have to use it as an inspiration to tame the scraps that are multiplying in my studio. Thanks for sharing.
  25. Re: Snowball - Scrap triangles - does anyone else do this?

Lucky you to have figured that out so quickly. Took me a long time to decide to save all those triangles. I just pitch them in a basket until I get a bunch and use them in a border on a scrappy...
