    Re: Finishing Raw Edges

    Same here!

One time I made DH a flannel quilt using flannel fat quarters. I set up my serger in front of the TV and serged the edges of 30 Fat Quarters!
  2. Re: Anyone use something besides batting to quilt with?

When you quilt with a lot of thickness such as fleece or minky on the back, use a walking foot and increase the stitch length to "3". You might also have to loosen the tension on the walking foot. ...
  3. Re: Anyone use something besides batting to quilt with?

Fleece does not "rag". But try a square as a sample and see how it looks to you. I have used minky on the back, flannel in the middle and cotton on top and just quilted an "X" on the squares. ...

    Re: Cutting Squares on Point

I suggest starching the fabric so it holds it's shape better since it's on the bias.
  6. Re: Anyone use something besides batting to quilt with?

    LOL - good one!

I throw lysol wipes on the kitchen floor to wipe up spots when I find out someone is coming over before I do house work!

I use flannel a lot in regular quilts when I don't want...

Re: Trying to order daily special

They added some more daily specials. That Wisteria fat quarter bundle looks really nice. The fq would be a little over 2$ each.

Re: How wide should a border be?

Lay it on the bed it's intended for and see how it lays on the bed and the drop on the sides. Since it is a bed quilt you want it wide and long enough that body parts won't stick out and get cold! ...

Re: Suggestions for 2nd Machine for Quilting

Get the largest throat space you can afford. Talk to your local dealer and see what they have. A lot of people trade in their machines when they buy a new one. You might be able to get gently...

    Re: Colonoscopy without anesthesia

I have never had it done with anesthesia. It's more like a memory blocker. You don't remember anything. Its good to have someone with you to talk with the doctor and remember what was said. I...

  17. Re: Problems with FMQ a Laura Heine collage quilt - stiches skip and thread breaks on steam-a-seam

What weight thread are you using?

I had this problem years ago and it turned out the thread was not strong enough.

Also, maybe try a needle that is used to sew denim.

I saw someone making a rug using a jelly roll and skinny strips of batting. Don't remember how she did it but someone here probably knows what it is.

    Re: jelly roll race size

If you are wanting a twin size quilt, with the math above, you would need to add some borders to provide a drop on the sides and bottom.
